New Erstwilder Fairy Tales Part 2 Collection: Once Upon a Time, Again…
Once upon a time, in July 2024, Erstwilder released a magical collection of colourful characters inspired by the fairy tales many of us grew up with. It became one of their most-loved releases — and ever since, collectors have been asking for more.
Now the story continues.
The Erstwilder x Pete Cromer Fairy Tales Part 2 Collection arrives at Pink Poppies tomorrow, bringing together princesses, magical creatures, brave knights, dragons, beloved fables and some wonderfully clever connections to the original collection.
Designed by Australian artist Pete Cromer, the new collection is filled with his unmistakable colour, personality and humour. And the packaging? It may just be our favourite yet.
A Fairy Tale Collection Made for Story Lovers
What makes this collection so special is that every piece has a story behind it.
Some are instantly recognisable. Others may have you digging deep into your childhood memories — or discovering a fairy tale you have never heard before.
The Accursed Gentleman Brooch brings us the Beast from Beauty and the Beast and has been specially designed to match Beauty from the first Fairy Tales collection. The little Clock Mini Brooch continues the enchanted castle story and makes a wonderful companion piece.
Beauty Sleep celebrates the timeless story of Sleeping Beauty, while Magical Makeover brings Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother to life with her magic wand, sparkling wings and flowing blue gown.
Then there is the tiny but adventurous Pocket Princess, inspired by Thumbelina, sitting beautifully among layers of bright pink flower petals.
From Gingerbread Men to Billy Goats Gruff
This collection is full of the childhood stories that instantly take us back.
The cheeky Catch Me If You Can Brooch is, of course, the Gingerbread Man. Run, run, as fast as you can!
Goats Goals brings us the much-loved story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff, while Solid Investment celebrates The Golden Goose in beautiful golden tones.
And then there is The Wind Up, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s The Nightingale. This lesser-known tale tells the story of an emperor who becomes captivated by a beautiful mechanical bird, only to discover that an imitation can never truly replace the real thing. We love the message behind this one.
Fairy Tales Meet Classic Fables
For the first time, this collection also ventures into the world of classic fables.
Lesson Learned brings the story of The Hare and the Tortoise to life, with its timeless reminder that slow and steady wins the race.
Even the packaging changes for these special pieces. Instead of Fairy Tales on the front of the beautiful book-shaped box, the fable designs arrive in their own Fables book packaging — a clever detail that collectors will love.
The Most Magical Packaging
We have to talk about the boxes.
The brooches are presented in beautiful book-shaped packaging, with different colours chosen to complement each design. Open the cover and you will find the brooch displayed like a tiny treasure, with its story printed inside.
The pink box of Magical Ally, the bright blue packaging of Magical Makeover, the vivid pink of Pocket Princess and the golden tones of Solid Investment make these pieces feel even more special.
They are not simply brooches — they feel like miniature storybooks made for gifting, displaying and collecting.
A Little Magic for Every Erstwilder Fan
Not everyone wears a large statement brooch every day, and Fairy Tales Part 2 has some lovely smaller pieces too.
The Apple Mini Brooch is inspired by the famous poisoned apple from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Here in Stanthorpe — Queensland’s famous apple-growing region — we think it also makes the perfect little Stanthorpe gift or souvenir.
The enamel collection includes the magnificent green dragon Impressive Scale, the magical unicorn Magical Ally and the very clever knight in shining armour, Plot Armour.
Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother also appears as the Magical Makeover Enamel Keyring, making it easy to carry a little fairy tale magic on your keys, handbag or backpack.
Our Picks from Fairy Tales Part 2
Choosing favourites from this collection is almost impossible.
We love Accursed Gentleman for the connection to Beauty from the first collection. Magical Ally is hard to resist with its beautiful pink unicorn and gorgeous matching box. Pocket Princess is a riot of bright floral colour, while the little Apple Mini Brooch feels made for us here in Stanthorpe.
And we have to admit, the name Plot Armour made us laugh.
That is the charm of Erstwilder and Pete Cromer. These pieces are colourful and beautifully made, but they are also clever, nostalgic and full of personality.
